Durban Segnini Gallery

Project Overview
A content-driven website for Durban Segnini Gallery, a contemporary art gallery in Coral Gables. I built it with Eleventy and paired it with a Git-based CMS so gallery staff can publish exhibitions, artists and works on their own, while the site stays static, fast and inexpensive to host.
Key Features
- Staff-Friendly CMS: Decap CMS at /admin with an editorial workflow, a Cloudinary media library and custom save hooks that generate clean slugs and sortable artist names automatically.
- Structured Content: Collections for artists, works, exhibitions, art fairs and news. Exhibitions carry status, posters, press-release and catalog PDFs, photo galleries and linked works.
- Exhibition Archive: An archive browsable by year, plus an art fairs timeline with smart navigation arrows.
- Featured Homepage: A hero carousel of featured exhibitions controlled from the CMS with a single toggle.
- Image Experience: Cloudinary transforms for thumbnails, hero and full-size images, lazy loading and a site-wide lightbox.
- Automated Deployment: Every publish triggers a GitHub Actions build that deploys to GitHub Pages under the gallery's own domain.
Technologies Used
- Eleventy 3 & Nunjucks: Static site generation with around 30 custom filters for sorting, dates and linking artists to their works.
- Decap CMS: Git-based content management for non-technical editors.
- Cloudinary: Media storage and responsive image transforms.
- GitHub Actions & GitHub Pages: Continuous deployment and hosting.
- Mailchimp: Newsletter sign-up.
Results
The gallery team manages the site themselves: hundreds of content updates have been published through the CMS, with 19 artists, 56 works and over 100 exhibitions online.
The site moved from prototype to production code and runs on free static hosting at durbansegnini.com.
